A comforting and flavorful Potsticker Soup featuring tender dumplings simmered in a savory ginger-garlic broth with optional fresh vegetables, topped with green onions and a hint of sesame oil.

Ingredients

Scale

Soup Base

  • 4 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian option)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil or red pepper flakes (optional)

Main Ingredients

  • 1215 frozen potstickers (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/2 cup spinach or bok choy (optional)

Garnish

  • 23 green onions, chopped
  • Drizzle of sesame oil (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broth: Heat the sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, soy sauce, and optional rice vinegar. Simmer the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  2. Cook Potstickers and Vegetables: Add the frozen potstickers directly to the simmering broth. Let them cook for 5 to 7 minutes, or until they are heated through and tender. If using mushrooms or spinach/bok choy, add them during the last 2 to 3 minutes of cooking to ensure they stay fresh and crisp.
  3. Season the Soup: Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt, pepper, and chili oil or red pepper flakes if you prefer a bit of heat. Remove the pot from the heat once everything is cooked through.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Ladle the soup into bowls, making sure each serving gets an even mix of potstickers and vegetables. Top with chopped green onions and a drizzle of sesame oil right before serving for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Using vegetable broth makes the soup vegetarian-friendly.
  • Add rice vinegar for a subtle tang that brightens the flavors, but it’s optional.
  • Adjust chili oil or red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
  • For extra protein, consider adding tofu or cooked shredded chicken.
  • Fresh potstickers can be used, but cooking times will vary.
