4.6 from 135 reviews

Delightfully rich and creamy Nutella truffles made with Oreo cookies, Nutella spread, and cream cheese, dipped in smooth dark chocolate for an irresistible treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 24 Oreo cookies
  • ½ cup Nutella
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened

Chocolate Coating

  • 10 ounces dark chocolate melting wafers (or 2 cups melted semisweet chocolate chips)

Optional Garnish

  • 34 additional Oreo cookies, pulverized for garnish

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Using a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until they become fine crumbs. Alternatively, crush them in a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin until very fine.
  2. Mix Cream Cheese and Nutella: In a stand mixer or large bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese and Nutella until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Cookie Crumbs: Gradually stir the crushed Oreo crumbs into the Nutella-cream cheese mixture, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed to incorporate everything evenly.
  4. Form Balls: Roll the mixture into 1 tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a wax-paper lined cookie sheet. If the mixture is too sticky to roll, refrigerate it for 10-15 minutes before rolling.
  5. Freeze Truffles: Transfer the rolled truffles to the freezer and freeze for 15 minutes to firm up.
  6. Melt Chocolate: While the truffles chill, melt the dark chocolate wafers in the microwave according to package instructions until smooth.
  7. Dip Truffles: Using a butter knife to steady each truffle, spoon melted chocolate evenly over the top and sides, then slide it back onto the wax paper. Immediately sprinkle with the optional crushed Oreo garnish if desired.
  8. Harden Coating: Place the dipped truffles in the refrigerator and allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving.
  9. Storage: Keep any leftover truffles refrigerated in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • If the truffle mixture is too soft to handle, chilling it before rolling makes the process easier.
  • Use a food processor for finer crumbs, but a rolling pin and bag work well too.
  • Dark chocolate melting wafers give a smooth, glossy coating but semisweet chocolate chips are a fine substitute.
  • Store truffles in the fridge and consume within one week for best taste and texture.
  • For an extra touch, roll the truffles in cocoa powder or chopped nuts instead of dipping.
