Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasonings

  • 680 grams skinless salmon, cut into 2.5 cm cubes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.75 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Cooking and Sauce Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 60 millilitres honey

Garnish

  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh chives

Instructions

  1. Season Salmon Cubes: Gently pat the salmon cubes dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Transfer them to a bowl and toss with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to ensure each piece is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  2. Sear Salmon: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange half of the seasoned salmon cubes in a single layer. Sear them for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the edges become crisp. Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate and repeat the process with the remaining cubes.
  3. Prepare Sauce Base: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the same pan. Add minced garlic and freshly grated ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant and aromatic.
  4. Simmer Honey Garlic Sauce: Pour in soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey into the skillet. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients. Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and becomes glossy.
  5. Combine Salmon and Sauce: Return the seared salmon cubes back to the skillet. Gently toss them in the honey garlic sauce to glaze evenly. Cook for an additional 1 minute, allowing the salmon to heat through and absorb the flavors.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and finely chopped fresh chives over the glazed salmon bites. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Make sure to pat the salmon dry thoroughly before seasoning to achieve the best sear.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when searing to ensure the salmon cubes brown nicely.
  • Adjust the honey amount to taste for more or less sweetness in the sauce.
  • Use fresh ginger to maximize the aromatic flavor in the sauce.
  • Serve with steamed rice or a light salad for a complete meal.
