Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb ground chuck
  • 3 Tbsp sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp ranch dressing mix
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

For Serving

  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck, sour cream, ranch dressing mix, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly but gently, using your hands or a sturdy spoon, until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 6 evenly sized portions and form into patties. Use a burger press or the lid of a container to shape them uniformly. Press a small dimple into the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking. Wet your hands with cold water to prevent sticking.
  3. Grill Patties: Preheat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium heat. Place the patties on the cooking surface and grill carefully, flipping only once to avoid breaking. Cook to desired doneness: 130-135°F for medium-rare, 140-145°F for medium, or 160°F for well done. Do not press down on the patties during cooking to retain juiciness.
  4. Rest and Serve: Let the burgers rest for a few minutes off the heat to allow juices to redistribute. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato slices, mustard, mayo, and any other preferred toppings before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat mixture to avoid tough burgers.
  • Wet hands with cold water before forming patties to prevent sticking.
  • Press a small dimple in the center of patties to maintain even cooking and shape.
  • Use a meat thermometer for accurate doneness measurements.
  • Let burgers rest after cooking for better juiciness.
  • Toast buns for a crispier texture and enhanced flavor.
  • Add your favorite toppings such as pickles, onions, or avocado for variety.
