Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (cooled)

Topping (Optional)

  • Additional cinnamon sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray to ensure the bread doesn’t stick.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and ground cinnamon until they are evenly combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth, then add the whole milk and melted butter. Mix thoroughly to combine all the wet ingredients.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the bread light and tender.
  5. Transfer Batter to Pan: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan. If desired, sprinkle a generous layer of cinnamon sugar over the top to create a sweet crust.
  6. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; when it comes out clean, the bread is ready.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute the whole milk with buttermilk.
  • Make sure the melted butter is cooled before mixing with eggs to prevent curdling.
  • Do not overmix the batter as it can make the bread dense and tough.
  • The topping of cinnamon sugar is optional but adds a nice crunch and sweetness.
  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
